Relax, Renew, and Revitalize!
by Oswaldo Koch

We all need to relax. In general, regular relaxation can make you a happier, more productive, optimistic, and confident person. Relaxation is really important in life and should be one of your top priorities in life every day. Relaxation is all about feeling good in ourselves, it is the opposite to feeling stressed, tense or anxious. Relaxation is characterized by a reduction or complete absence of muscle activity. Relaxation is a natural state and everyone can access and develop this state so that it supports us and brings us greater health and well being on every level.

The Many Benefits Of Relaxation

Through modern day living, our lives have become busier and there are many more demands placed on us. This means we have to compensate and adapt to this greater need by including more relaxation in our lives. Practicing relaxation techniques can improve how you physically respond to stress. The simple act of becoming relaxed can have surprising health benefits. You can gain some important health and lifestyle benefits from relaxation techniques such as:

  • Improved concentration
  • Boosting confidence to handle problems
  • Increasing mental and physical energy
  • Slowing your heart rate
  • Improving concentration
  • Reducing chronic pain, such as headaches and back pain
  • Reducing emotional responses, such as anger, frustration and stress
  • Lowering blood pressure

In addition to the obvious benefits, if practiced regularly, relaxation can strengthen the immune system and produce a host of other medically valuable physiological changes.

The Many Techniques Of Relaxation

Sitting on a couch glued to the television is not an effective way of relaxation. Much better is to lie down or to sit comfortably, and close your eyes. Meditative music helps a lot. Audio relaxation is actually one of the easiest ways to feel the benefit of relaxation.

There are many different relaxation techniques you could try - Active meditation, deep breathing, visualization, Tai Chi, music, Yoga, dancing, or simply just listening to classical music. When practiced regularly, these activities lead to a reduction in your everyday stress levels and a boost in your feelings of joy and serenity. What's more, they also serve a protective quality by teaching you how to stay calm and collected in the face of life's challenger.
